Rory is a sickly baby in general. She throws up quite a bit. The vet says that there's nothing wrong with her except she doesn't handle stress well. Anytime there's a change, she has an off day. (Like the kids will be home for a few days, and when they have to go back to school, she throws up a little.) Yesterday she woke up throwing up and as the kids had just been home for the weekend, I didn't think too much about it. Babied her, cleaned it up... but figured she'd get over it like she always does.
She started throwing up more and would cry (a really loud, long whimper) at the end. Then she'd crawl on my tummy, snuggle into me, and just cry. It was so sad. She was really weak and refused food. She was drinking though, which I thought was a good sign.
I took her to the vet and the first thing they did was run a parvo test. Thankfully it came back negative, so they said it was just a tummy virus. They gave her fluids and a shot of antibiotics and anti-nausea, and she perked up a little. They gave me an antibiotic and anti-nausea to give to her at home, too. She was so exhausted, she just slept most of the day once I got her home.
Today she's much better, but still not back to herself. I guess that will take a few more days. She's such a sassy thing, usually, but she's kept very quiet. She barked at me when I wasn't petting her because she saw both of my hands were free... It was so nice to hear it again! lol
What amazed me was the other dogs would sniff her and then turn to me and whine. I honestly think they knew something was wrong with her and they were asking me to help her. They haven't done that again since we got back from the vet. She usually annoys them. They're older and she's still a puppy, naturally she wants to play all the time! But it's nice to think they were concerned for her.
I hope all of your puppies are doing well!
